Working ProofA proof of concept on your own data, in 1 to 2 weeks

Working Proof is a fixed-price proof of concept for UK businesses that make, move and sell products. It costs £1,995 and takes 1 to 2 weeks from the kick-off meeting. We build your idea on something real from your business. You see it working before you decide whether to build it in full.

The idea can use AI, bring data together or change a workflow. The scope is agreed in a short discovery call before we start, so the price does not move. The code and the plan are yours to keep, to act on with us or with your own team.

Why we start small

Bent Flyvbjerg's database of more than 16,000 projects shows that fewer than 1% come in on time, on budget and deliver the benefits promised. His advice is to break big projects into small ones. A Working Proof is the first small one, so you find out whether the idea works before you commit to the full build.

We work with the data, systems and processes at the heart of businesses like yours. We know what product, price and sales data looks like in your sector, so the 1 to 2 weeks go on building your idea rather than on learning the ground. Caterforce, TWC, Gay Times and Sugro all started this way.

What's included

What's included

A discovery call to agree the problem and what a good result looks like, then a kick-off meeting to start the work. A working version of your idea, built on a sample of your real data, that you can try and show your team. The code is yours to keep. A picture of the full version: what it would take to build and what it would cost. A plan for the next step, and a call to walk you through it.

Your questions

How much does an AI proof of concept cost?

£1,995, fixed, whether or not the idea uses AI. We agree the scope with you in a short discovery call before we start, so the price does not change once the work begins. There is no charge for the call.

How long does it take?

1 to 2 weeks from the kick-off meeting, depending on the scope. We agree the scope and the kick-off date in the discovery call, and the working proof and walkthrough come at the end. Nothing runs on past two weeks.

What do you need from us?

A list of the systems involved, and sample exports from them, such as your product data. Everything else we cover in the discovery call. We work with the systems you already have, and the data does not need to be clean first.

How is a proof of concept different from a demo?

A demo shows something already built for someone else. A Working Proof builds your idea on your own data, so you can see whether it works for your business before you pay to build it in full.

Who owns the working proof?

You do. The code is yours to take away, and the plan is yours to put into practice with or without us. A working proof is built to show the idea works, not to run day to day, so it does not stay live after the sprint.

What happens after the proof?

You decide. Some businesses build the full version with us, as Caterforce did. Others take the plan to their own team. If the data needs work first, a Data Diagnostic sets out what to fix, for £1,995 in 1 to 2 weeks.

Proof

Caterforce began with a low cost proof of concept. It became a platform that holds one product and price file for 10 members and 190 suppliers, with 95% of products matched automatically. See the case study.

For Stratton Craig, a proof of concept used AI to read 876 pages of its copy, scoring each for readability, emotion, communication style and personality. See the case study.

TWC also started with a low cost proof of concept, more than ten years ago. Today our workflows automatically cleanse 95% of the 2.5 million products it handles each month. See the case study.
